Arts and Minds Festival 2010

Saturday 16 October 2010 – Sunday 17 October 2010

Mental health arts festival at The Junction in Cambridge. This new festival is being organised by local charity Arts and Minds

Starting this year at The Junction in Cambridge, the organisers aim to shake up attitudes to mental health and stir them with film, music, debate and comedy.

The cultural weekend will feature award-winning film, documentary, live music spoken word, and a specially commissioned comedy with world-class comedian John Ryan.

Programme highlights

Saturday 16th at 8pm cutting edge comedy with award winning comedian John Ryan and special guests: a performance that lifts the lid on mental health and takes a light-hearted look at when life gives you a bit of a kicking.

“Only John Ryan can make you think and laugh” – LBC Radio

Saturday 16th 5.30pm Cambridge-based drama ‘Stuart A Life Backwards’ starring Tom Hardy and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Sunday 17th 5pm: Award-winning documentary ‘The Devil and Daniel Johnston’ about singer-songwriter whose life was shaped by struggle with bipolar disorder.

Sunday 17th in the bar from 7pm (FREE): music and poetry from London-based collective Little Episodes featuring bluegrass band The Harrison Brothers and much more.
7.30 Debate: ‘The Art of Being Human: Storytelling and the Arts as a Pathway to Recovery and Wellbeing’.

Our Chairman, Keith Evans and his family had a stall outside his house in the village raising money for Cam-mind. £1,363.95 was raised from bric-a-brac, books, tombola and selling teas/coffees. Our thanks go to all of them for all their hard work
