Businesses battle it out for ‘On-Footse’ Top 100 title
Sunday 3 October 2010—Cambridge
- Runners representing some of the biggest businesses in the Cambridge area raced for a top place on the region's alternative business listing — the ‘On-Footse’ top 100 index today (3 October 2010)
- All participants ran 1 competitive mile round the University of Cambridge Athletics Track, in Wilberforce Road, with the winners taking the top slots in the On Footse listing.
- The event is raising money for the local mental health charity Cam-mind and will help fund various community-based projects that support local people recovering from mental health problems.
- Serious runners and fun-runners all took part in the event, which awarded prizes for Fastest Male (2nd and 3rd), Fastest Female (2nd and 3rd), Fastest Handicap Male and Fastest Handicap Female.
- The race was started by Cam-mind President Charles Hewitson, who also ran the race
on behalf of Hewitsons.
He said: “It has been fantastic to see so much support here for this event, which has been a lot of fun as well as very competitive. There have been some very keen runners here — as the top times demonstrate — but those who ran more for the fun of it have also clearly had a great time.”
- Aly Anderson, who ran on behalf of Cam-mind, added: “We have had a brilliant morning and would like to thank everyone who has got involved in this year's On-Footse — and hope they will be back again next year to fight for their place on the 2011 listing.”
- The On-Footse event also featured a family fun day of fund-raising stalls and activities in aid of Cam-mind.
