About Cam-mind
Cam-mind is the longest established mental health charity in Cambridge, supporting local people with mental health problems since 1908. We are based in Chesterton Road, Cambridge, and run a wide range of community-based projects and services which are designed to support people in their recovery from mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder. 1 in 4 people in the UK experience mental health problems at some time in their lives and yet, for many, it is a lonely and isolating experience.
Our projects include:
- Supported housing — we support 21 adults with long term mental health problems living in the community.
- Befriending — we run a one-to-one befriending service, supporting people who have become particularly isolated as a result of their mental health problems.
- Community groups — we facilitate a range of community groups offering access to new interests, such as pottery, cooking, textiles and gardening, as well as social support, Mental health awareness training to local businesses and organizations.
- Home & Community Support Service — support for people with mental health problems accessed through the care plan approach.
Cam-mind is affiliated to — but not funded by — National Mind and we are committed to challenging the prejudices that undermine recovery from mental health problems.
