Press Release

London marathon run in support of mental health

Thursday 9 April 2009—Cambridge

IT Manager from leading law firm Hewitsons will be running the Flora London marathon this year, to raise money for mental health sufferers. Tolan Collins has chosen to support Cam-mind, Cambridge's longest established mental health charity.

Mental illness can be caused by a vast number of reasons, from financial problems to bereavement to lack of self-esteem. Whatever the cause, people suffering from mental illness may become isolated from their friends and family and may feel unable to cope with everyday life. Cam-mind provides an essential service to those people, helping them on their recovery back to a normal life.

Tolan has chosen to support Cam-Mind to assist with raising awareness of mental health and to help those suffering, now or in the future, with any sort of mental health condition. There are a wide range of support networks available throughout the UK which are willing to offer their time and services. Those suffering from any mental health condition will benefit from the valuable support provided by Cam-Mind.

The London marathon is being held on 26 April and Tolan is training tirelessly in the weeks leading up to the run. He would like to raise £1,000 for Cam-mind and is hoping to complete his run in less than 4 hours. If you would like to support Cam-mind, Tolan has set up a Justgiving site at http://www.justgiving.com/tolan, where donations can be made easily online.

If you would like to find out further information about the charity, please visit the Cam-mind website at www.cam-mind.org.uk

Cam-mind is also the chosen charity for the 2009 Chariots of Fire charity relay race, sponsored by Hewitsons. The event involves teams of 6 running in relay format through Cambridge and the university colleges. From the 12 May teams can register to take part in the race, which will take place on 20 September. Please visit www.chariots-of-fire.co.uk for further information.
