Cam-mind works in partnership with The Cambridge Housing Society and is able to offer accommodation to 21 residents suffering from mental illness.
Currently, Cam-mind has a group of two shared homes and eight flats located around Cambridge City. Each resident is offered support relative to individual needs.
In a shared home, each tenant has their own bedroom but kitchen, bathroom, sitting room and garden facilities are shared with the other residents. These properties are fully furnished.
At each of the shared homes, Cambridge Housing Society acting as Landlords, offer the following services:
In the case of self-contained flats, no services are provided and all cleaning and financial matters are the responsibility of the resident.
A support service geared to the individual needs of residents is provided by Cam-mind Support Workers. This could include regular planned visits, emotional support, shopping trips, social outings, assistance with benefit applications and help with day-to-day living. Advice is also given regarding other service providers where appropriate. The level of support varies according to the needs of the individual, but will normally average around two – three hours per week spread over several days.
Cam-mind strongly believes that each resident has the potential to move toward independent living and therefore works in line with the Recovery Model ethos.
If you would like to receive further information or an application form, then please contact us. However, please note that accommodation can only be offered when places become available but we are happy to add names to our waiting list at any time.
